This image is from my first shoot of the New Year at a local wildlife reserve, and I was excited about the opportunity to shoot there. While I was familiar with the white or snowy egret, this was my first sighting of the reddish variety. I was intrigued by him and followed him around the marsh for quite a while, so don’t be surprised to see him turn up again. The image really lent itself to high-key post-processing techniques, and I am now hooked on this approach. I look forward to creating more of these in the near future to create a series of high-key shore birds.
